Fast Food Review: Taco Bell’s Grilled Stuft Nacho (with Cinnabon Delights for Dessert)

Taco Bell is back at it with the introduction of another brand new item, the Grilled Stuft Nacho! That’s right: Stuft. Released nationwide on December 19th, the Grilled Stuft Nacho is Taco Bell’s attempt to make nachos a more portable item. They have folded one of their soft tortillas and folded it into the shape of a big tortilla chip. The tortilla is filled with seasoned beef, warm nacho cheese, zesty nacho sauce (brand new), crunchy red strips, and sour cream. The whole “nacho” is grilled to seal the edges and provide a crunchiness and warmth to the tortilla shell.

I have to admit that I was more than a little excited when I found out the Grilled Stuft Nacho was being released. I frequently find myself ordering the basic nachos as a side to my meal, and the fact that I eat way to many meals in my car had me sold on the portability. The Grilled Stuft Nacho is being advertised for $1.29 (prices may vary though) and for that price you get a decent bite. The overall shell is bigger than I expected, but it was also a little thinner than I had hoped. Calling it “stuft” is honestly a bit of an exaggeration.

Really-big-Nacho

A slightly exaggerated promotional photo

When I took my first bite I was pleased to find that the crunchy red strips were actually crunchy. I was worried that all of the cheese sauce in the nacho would soften the strips or even make them soggy, but everything was fresh and up to snuff. The real star of the show, however? The new zesty nacho sauce. The sauce has a great bite to it and it gives the Grilled Stuft Nacho a taste profile that is head and shoulders above the regular nachos that Taco Bell currently offers. The rest of the nacho is made up of the regular seasoned beef, basic nacho cheese, and sour cream, so there really isn’t much to report on that front. The ingredients work exceptionally well together, and my only real complaint is that I wanted more of them in the nacho. A little more beef would go a long way, but at $1.29 I guess I can’t complain too much.

Not quite as pretty in person, but it’s the taste that counts!

The Grilled Stuft Nacho has been introduced as a limited-time offer, but like most limited-time items at Taco Bell I am expecting a comeback or two over the next few years. Just to be safe I should probably keep grabbing these guys while they are still around!

The Grilled Stuft Nacho is definitely more of a sidekick than a main meal item, so if you are looking for something else to eat I’m going to make a quick plug for the new Cinnabon® Delights. Delights are bite-sized pastries that are filled with the classic Cinnabon® frosting and lightly covered in cinnamon sugar. These quick bites pack all of the tastes that make the full sized Cinnabon® rolls so irresistible! They are served in four packs, and that is probably a good thing because once you start popping these pastries it can be pretty tough to stop.

Cinnabon Delights

Another Taco Bell Portable Treat

My suggestion is pretty simple. Make your way down to your local Taco Bell and pick up both the Grilled Stuft Nacho and the Cinnabon® Delights! I’m confident you won’t be disappointed, but even if you think these items fall a little short you are only out a buck or two so I don’t really want to hear about it.
